Ubud: Komaneka at Tanggayuda Luxary at its finest. Quiet, yet purposeful. This was truely a treat and created a sense of respect and appreciation for quality living that teachers deserve.. A few nights here was worth it. Komaneka at Tanggayuda offered solace amidst lush jungles. Nestled on the village edge, this retreat became a refuge from the chaos. Surrounded by nature's splendor and warm hospitality, we rediscovered the art of slowing down, tuning in, and embracing the present moment. This is luxe and for a very good reason.

Food

Shady Shack Tucked away just off the main stretch in Canggu, The Shady Shack is one of those places that balances ease with intention. Surrounded by tropical greenery and open-air seating, it’s a spot where time slows a little. Loved the nachos!

Cafe Vida in Canggu offers a calm, leafy setting with a menu built around fresh, whole ingredients. It’s a spot where thoughtful food meets a slower pace, ideal for a nourishing break. It reminded me of ‘Eat Pray Love’, perhaps because I would often use this time to eat alone and journal. The smoothie bowls were my go to as well as an iced coffee and the banana flour scroll!

Beyond the Beaches: Inside one of Bali’s Educational Heartlands

Education Experience

Green School During my time in Bali, I had the opportunity to embark on a tour of the Green School—a beacon of sustainability and innovation in education. As I wandered through its bamboo classrooms and lush surroundings, I was struck by the philosophies embraced by its community. It was a profound reminder that there are many paths to education, each one shaped by the unique values and beliefs of those who inhabit it.

The Green School experience served as a catalyst for reflection, prompting me to reconsider my own values to teaching and learning. It challenged me to explore alternative methods and rituals that align with my values and beliefs in education. Perhaps, in embracing this diversity of perspectives, we can uncover new rituals that resonate deeply with our souls and elevate the educational experience for ourselves.

As we journey through life, let us remain open to the lessons that different cultures and communities have to offer. Perhaps we can seek inspiration from those who dare to chart their own course and forge new paths in education. For it is through this openness and curiosity that we can discover our own values and rituals of teaching.

Reflecting on our Bali adventures, we're reminded that travel transcends mere sightseeing—it's about forging connections, embracing experiences, and staying true to our values. Whether a brief escape or an extended adventure, Bali's allure lies in its ability to touch our hearts and souls profoundly. So here's to Bali—our compass, our muse, and our sanctuary—an island where each journey enriches our connection to ourselves and the world.

Thanks for reading. Take this as your reminder to shape your holiday break in a way that genuinely works for you and continue to own your direction.

Sincerely,
Hannah
